is school over yet?

I'm in total homeschooling burnout mode. I've been working just about 2 days a week lately which only leaves me 3 full days at home. I don't feel like I have time to do what I need to for school let alone housework, kids etc.

And, last week I missed a day of work because I got this weird stomach flu which also included shortness of breath and pressure in my chest. This led to blood tests, an EKG and a CAT scan, all in the same day. Good times. Actually the best part was the CAT scan because they gave me an IV and I was severely dehydrated so I actually felt better during the scan. Go figure.

The good news, I'm fine... Well, still recovering from severe fatigue and trying to eat food again. Why the CAT scan? The blood test had come back positive for blood clots, but praise the Lord the scan was negative. Then I stayed in bed for about 3 days. My parents took the kids Thursday and overnight and Hubs picked them up Friday after work.

Where was I? Oh yea, school. So we missed 2 days last week with me being sickies and today was abbreviated since I just don't have the energy. So I've come to this conclusion: The Lord knows my heart and I have to trust Him to take care of the rest. Why am I trying to do it on my own anyway?

With that in mind, I'll be just fine with homeschooling. A few highlights. Remember I mentioned that I was taking Rachel to the airport for a field trip? This was several months ago. Yup, totally forgot my camera. I was desperate and bought a disposable, I still need to use up the film...

A few weeks ago I took Rachel to see a play of James and the Giant Peach, I had read the book to her first. (And discovered I had to do some quick editing as I was reading!) She got to go with her cousins who are also homeschooled so that was fun. Right now, we're starting a project on butterflies. I found out that the Boston Museum of Science has a butterfly garden exhibit. I can't wait to take her there for a field trip!

In the meantime, it's just the plain old day to day work...

Listening for the beginning letter of the word, finding the letter and writing her own.

Math and Emma's embellishments.

How many more pennies does she need to buy the item?

I think this is so precious. Rachel lays out her work on the chair for her daddy to see when he gets home. (:

I know, the whole flu thing happened so fast, it's all a blur. I'm still foggy.

I've been enjoying your recent posts and pics, just haven't commented. Looking forward to your homeschool post though.
Definitely glad to know you're there with me! (:

Totally love the math Emma did on the chalkboard :) Made me laugh! It's never a dull moment with the little ones, is it?! I'm so glad to hear you are ok! You're not the only one feeling burnt-out from school. I think half the battle is that it's only 1/2 way through the year, ugh!!!! Love how Rachel lays her work out for dad to see :) Cyrus puts his all over the fridge....

wow, so glad you're ok. that's scary, huh? i wonder how many times being dehydrated might put me over the edge. and burnout? i think it's the winter blahs too. it's hard when you can't just enjoy the sunshine outside. we ran errands this morning just because i didn't feel like starting off school at 8:30am. not really an excuse. just tired:) so you're in good company.
