the internet, baseball and cawfee tawk

I've been 'tagged by meme', not sure exactly what that means except that I'm supposed to share 6 weird or unusual things about myself. I had to think for a minute but then the list just didn't stop. Man, I AM weird! (:

1. This is a big one and maybe should count as 2, I met my husband online. We 'met' our senior year of college. Now you must know that this was back before eharmony, chat rooms and instant messaging. It was a Christian pen pal thing. It's definitely the most 'out of character' thing I've ever done. He came to meet me at school and I purposely planned group activities and met on the sidewalk on campus just to make sure he was not a scarey person. The rest they say is history. We're celebrating our 10th anniversary in June and have 2 great kids. God's hand is all over this one.

2. I am a HUGE Red Sox fan. HUGE! You don't even know! (think Will Farrell saying it or yelling it, rather.) (: I could go on and on, literally. Only die-hard fans know the picture above and what it means...hello biggest comeback ever and a world series ring in 2004, the first since 1918. One of my dream vacation destinations (besides Hawaii, and parts of Europe-especially Scotland)is Ft. Myers, FL for the Sox spring training. It takes place in Feb-March and would be a more attainable getaway and get me out of the winter blahs this time of year. Maybe someday...Red Sox Nation is alive and well in our household. Check out the slideshow on the left for the cuties in their Red Sox garb. Go Sox!!

3. The most irritating sound ever is anything rubbing or scraping against screens. Example: pulling the dryer vent out and removing the lint. Can't do it. Hate every second of it. Just the thought of it is annoying me.

4. I love coffee because I love the taste of it. Honest. No joke. I mostly drink decaf except on those major 'Jonah' days when I crank it up to caffeinated. I know, wild and crazy.

5. I am the small % of whatever medical issue may arise. It's really frustrating because I can't predict what it will be, it's not like an allergy to penicillin where I know it and can avoid it. There are sooo many examples of this so I'll just point out a few. Only 1% of women in their 1st pregnancies get PUPPS rash. It's a hormonal thing and it's basically a bright red rash that's itchy like poison ivy and it spreads but it doesn't go away until after you give birth. I had it on my belly and shins and was starting to show up on the back of my arms which was not pleasant because this was in the height of summer. I was miserable, they eventually gave me steroids which did help the itchies.
Most medications do not work for me. I was prescribed for something and it totally didn't work. I had to go back to the dr. and I was told that only 5% of people don't respond to it, that was me.
But the latest, I had to have a c-section with Emma because she was too big (9 lbs. 11oz) after 11 hours into labor, we decided this was the only option. I was told that the spinal would work quickly within 5 minutes. Not me, 20 minutes later it finally kicked in. It was very scarey because they couldn't monitor Emma in anyway and the anesthesiologist was baffled, never a good sign. Immediately after they put me back together, the anesthesiologist asked me to wiggle my toes and I could. He just shook his head. Note to self, if I ever need anesthesia tell them the basic concoction does not work for me.

6. I like sheep. Not as pets and I don't collect sheep figurines or stuffed animals. I just like them, they're my favorite animal to see at fairs and petting zoos. I think it's way cool that God made an animal that we can shear off their fur and use it to make clothing. They're also kind of dumb and I find that amusing. We're sometimes referenced in the Bible as sheep. It fits.

Bonus: I do this word letter sequence in my head where I eliminate repeat letters. I don't do it all the time but for some reason I just start doing it and I don't know when I started this oddity. Example: the word tomorrow which is 8 letters would be 5 letters, tomrw. I bet you can stil read this despit letrs misng. I don't however count stuff, I have no clue how many steps are in my house.

So that's it. For better or worse. I'm supposed to pass this on, so Tenny, it's all yours.

Oh yes....I remember when you met Adam :) It was so freaky because NO ONE used the internet like that!! NO ONE even had email, except us on the campus network. It was like a completely foreign world out there. I remember how we kept telling you to be sure not to be alone with Adam because it was so crazy how you met. I also remember your car you drove to campus :) Can you believe how fast 10 years goes by???!!!

We didn't like telling people how we met because it was odd and totally misunderstood...My green boat car! (: I miss that thing. The registration listed the seating capacity as 9, ha! The kicker though, the gas cap was secretly behind the rear license plate. Why? Adam told me it was for aerodynamics. Aerodynamics?!?!? In what world would that ever be a speedster? Complete comedy.
